YOU CAN BE HAPPY TODAY

Sometime ago after a very busy day, I was about to go to sleep while listening to a very sad friend tell me about all his troubles. My difficulty in trying to stay awake was not because I didn't want to take time with my sad friend, but it was simply because I was tired, and besides that I had listened to these sad words from my sad friend two or three times a week for several years, and I had everything he was going to say memorized. My body was crying out, "PLEASE LAY ME DOWN TO REST..." I had to do something, so I opened my mouth and said to my friend, "I think I have an answer for you..." He had a look on his face that caught me by surprise. I really thought he would be excited to know that I had finally thought of an answer after all these years of hearing this sad story over and over and over and over and over and over again. He seemed as if he was almost disappointed to hear about a solution.

I waited for a smile, or just a word to assure me that he wanted to hear my very good news, but he just looked at me, and I think I almost heard his thoughts say, "Please let me finish telling you how sad I am..." I honestly believe I lost a friend during that conversation when I spoke these words. "Perhaps you should try to change, and do what it takes to make you happy..." He stood up, grabbed his stuff and headed out the door, and now he walks on the other side of the street when he knows I am walking toward him. What's up with that? Is it really possible that some people in this world do not want to know what it takes to be happy? That is something I cannot comprehend, and I really don't think I will try to figure it out, because I do not want this type of mind set to jump on me. I am happy, and my happiness is the result of choices I have made through the years that required me to change many times.

Happiness does not ordinarily come automatically. Life gets tough, and the pathway gets rough. There are times when everything seems to be against us, and nothing goes right. Have you ever felt like people were using you for a floor mat to clean the mud from the bottom of their boots? I have been there, and I know how it feels. Somebody spoke these words to me when I was a young loser. "If you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting what you have been getting..." I have recalled those words hundreds of times since that day. I do not remember who said those words to me, but I owe that person a debt of gratitude. At the age of 67 I am finding life to be WONDERFUL. I listen to people all around me talk about how bad the economy is, how bad the president is, how bad congress is, how bad the republicans are, how bad the democrats are, how bad the news media is, how bad fox news is, how bad the internet is, how bad television is, how bad the neighbors are, how bad the education system is, how bad the job is, how bad the weather is, how bad, how bad, how bad, and I could write a large book on how bad everything seems to be just from the words I have heard this week. Who would want to read it? On second thought, perhaps it would be a best seller, because it seems to me that just about everybody wants to know how bad everything is for everybody. Here in Norwich, Connecticut, there are people who actually run away when they see me coming, and the only reason they are running must be because of my smile... I have done nothing but express my joy for 28 years in Connecticut, and I am having a difficult time finding people who can comprehend it. One lady called me on the phone several years ago and said, "I think it is a sin to be happy all the time..." I just don't get it, and I don't think I want to get it. Do you? Happiness is good. Happiness can happen for anybody that can change. IT REALLY CAN! BELIEVE IT!!! I hope you will be my friend after reading this little simple blog, because all I am trying to say to those of you today who may be have been unhappy for a long time is this. "Perhaps I have found an answer for you...CHANGE, and do what it takes to make yourself happy."

A sad friend told me just this week that he was about to be arrested and may have to be in jail for awhile. Then he looked at me sadly and said, "I am sincerely thinking about ending my life..." WHAT? KILLING YOUR SAD SELF IS THE ANSWER???? I responded to his words by saying, "Going to jail is better than going to hell..."

There are answers and solutions for all of us regardless of how severe the problems may be. Change is a very big part of the solution. You may need to change your mind about some things, change jobs, change your ways, stop some habits, change your attitude, change your close friends that you spend time with, change your belief about God, change preachers, change boyfriends or girlfriends, stop listening to the radio, stop watching tv, stop thinking about nasty stuff, and start thinking about good things, stop smoking, stop chewing, stop drinking, stop swearing, stop telling lies, stop sitting around doing nothing all day, stop being mean, start being kind to others, move to another part of town, move to Sweden...DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!

We only get to live this life once...RIGHT? C'MON NOW, You can do this.
If I can be happy, anybody can. You don't know like I know. I am so changed from the way I was years ago, I can hardly recognize myself. In all my efforts to find happiness I found that my greatest change came when I decided to give up the ways of the world and give my heart to Jesus. Ooops!!! You didn't want to read that? CHANGE YOUR HEART NOW!!!! STOP BEING THAT WAY!!!

I found a plan of salvation in the Bible that was taught in a Pentecostal Church that assured me that Jesus could take away my sins. I decided to follow that plan, and that is why I am happy today. It all started when I changed my ways and obeyed Acts 2:38. I just have one questions for you as I end this blog. Will you please consider all the words of hope I have for you on a short video clip? Click the link below and open up your heart and get ready to make that change.
